In the crack of a stone
Where a young maple tree is just trying to be
even if it means being alone

But she looks in the evenings
Dressed in khaki and grey
And in vain we both gaze through the chains
That we've only ourselves to blame for

We will meet in the morning
I told her midday
In the notes of a song someone wrote
To a tune that has never been played

I will be with the snowflakes
